libio-interface-perl software package provides socket methods to get/set interface characteristics, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libio-interface-perl
libio-interface-perl is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libio-interface-perl package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libio-interface-perl *
You will get with libio-interface-perl package name, version, architecture and description in a table
